Community Partner Update – Issue 2, 2026
Issue 2, 2026
Every milestone at peopleCare starts with people. From celebrating the team members who bring our Values to life each day, to expanding access to care in communities that need it most, we’ve learned that lasting impact is always built through collaboration and a shared commitment to making a difference. This issue celebrates the people, partnerships and communities helping us shape the future of senior living while creating more opportunities for older adults and their families to thrive close to home.
Nearly 250 reasons to celebrate at 2026 Values Awards
Every year, peopleCare’s Values Awards recognize the team members who go above and beyond, making our homes better places to live, work, volunteer and visit. This year, we received a record 247 nominations, each telling the story of someone who made a meaningful difference for residents, families and coworkers. From innovating care to supporting others through difficult moments to bringing joy and purpose to everyday life, the nominations spoke volumes about the extraordinary people who make our homes such special places. While only a handful of team members receive an award each year, every nominee deserves to be celebrated. Congratulations to our 2026 Values Award winners and nominees, and thank you to our evaluation committee of valued partners who help make this important recognition program possible.

Bringing LTC home to Wasaga
Following an award of 288 new LTC bed licences from the Ministry of Long-Term Care, peopleCare is thrilled to be bringing LTC to Wasaga Beach. This community is currently without a LTC home, meaning this important investment will help local seniors access care close to home while remaining connected to their families, friends and community.
Sincere thank you to the Ontario government, local MPP Brian Saunderson, and the Town of Wasaga Beach for their partnership and shared commitment to making this much-needed LTC home a reality.
Once open, the new home will expand access to high-quality care in one of Ontario’s fastest growing retirement communities, while also creating more than 350 local jobs.
Thanks to the support of Stonebridge Building Group, peopleCare secured an exceptional location for the new home. Over time, we plan to create a broader senior living community on the property, including future housing and services for older adults, helping address evolving community needs and support healthy aging.

Where care and community come together
peopleCare was proud to welcome residents, families, elected officials and community partners to an official ribbon-cutting celebration, marking an important milestone for Delhi LTC and the broader Norfolk County community.
For more than 15 years, peopleCare has worked alongside residents, families, team members and local partners with a shared vision of creating a larger, modern home where more seniors can remain close to the people and places that matter most. Seeing residents enjoying their beautiful new home, surrounded by their community, was a wonderful reminder of why this work matters. The redeveloped home has expanded capacity from 60 to 128 residents while creating bright, welcoming spaces that support connection, comfort and life-enriching experiences.

Working with our municipal and provincial partners to bring new LTC homes to communities where they’re needed most – as part of planned communities of care – will remain a key focus for peopleCare in the next few years. Our new 160-bed home in Tillsonburg will welcome its first residents this summer and we are currently hiring for all roles as we build a workforce of more than 200 new staff. Looking for a rewarding career? Explore our Tillsonburg LTC hiring page. Need LTC for you or a loved one? The waitlist for the home is now open. Championing frontline team members
The Senior Living CaRES Fund is making a meaningful difference for frontline employees across Canada, providing emergency financial assistance and Champions of Senior Living education bursaries to help those who dedicate their careers to caring for others. As a proud donor partner, peopleCare is pleased to support this important work through our strategic priority to Impact Beyond Ourselves.
One of the Fund’s recent bursary recipients is Sharon Khan, Director of Resident Care at peopleCare Hilltop Manor LTC. Since joining peopleCare more than 30 years ago, Sharon has continually embraced new learning opportunities while mentoring others and providing exceptional resident care.
