With multiple projects in the ground – some fast approaching completion – and several more set to kick-off this year, peopleCare’s senior living developments are generating lots of local interest in our communities. Check out these most recent media stories:
peopleCare being proactive in human resources as they ready for growth
Ontario faces a significant shortage in healthcare staffing. By 2029, the long-term care (LTC) sector alone will require an additional 58,600 workers. Despite these challenges, peopleCare aims to recruit over 40 new staff, including registered practical nurses and personal support workers, as we expand our home in Tavistock to 128 beds. To make this happen, our team is leveraging Tavistock’s small-town charm, student outreach, and innovative programs like free municipal transportation and hiring internationally educated nurses (IENs). We’re also advocating for better immigration pathways and enhanced support for IEN registration to address the broader staffing crisis in Ontario’s healthcare system.

peopleCare’s new LTC home in Tavistock is set to open this fall, replacing the current building with a 128-bed, 73,000 square-foot building that meets and exceeds government size standards. New 128-bed LTC home to open in Delhi in spring 2025
peopleCare is expanding seniors care and housing options in Norfolk County with the construction of a new 128-bed long-term care home in Delhi, replacing the current 60-bed home. The new home, slated to open in spring 2025, is part of peopleCare’s broader plan to increase their total number of LTC beds from 751 to 2,500 within four years. The Ontario government is supporting such projects with a $155.5 million investment this year, part of a larger $6.4-billion plan to build 58,000 new and upgraded long-term care beds across the province. peopleCare aims to ensure a smooth transition for current residents when the new home opens, and will hire about 100 new healthcare workers, including internationally trained nurses.
