We’re seeking a forward-thinking finance professional ready to step into a key leadership role in a growing, purpose-driven organization. As Accounting Manager, you’ll lead a passionate team delivering excellence, accuracy, and integrity across all financial operations.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Financial Accounting & Reporting
- Lead full-cycle accounting (AP, AR, GL) and period-end closes (reconciliations, journals, accruals, schedules) across all homes and entities.
- Review and approve consolidated financials, ensuring GAAP, policy, CRA/Ministry, and intercompany compliance; exercise delegated signing authority.
- Act as primary CRA liaison for tax compliance, inquiries, and filings.
Budgeting & Forecasting
- Lead annual budgeting and rolling forecasts with operations and leadership.
- Analyze monthly variances and partner with home leaders to translate results into actionable financial decisions and resource allocation.
Internal Controls, Compliance & Risk Management
- Design and strengthen internal controls to safeguard assets, ensure accurate reporting, and maintain compliance with accounting standards, internal policies, CRA, and other regulators, including tax filings, payroll remittances, and regulatory reporting.
- Identify key financial and operational risks and lead mitigation strategies; coordinate external audits and supporting documentation.
Treasury & Cash Flow Management
- Monitor and manage cash flow, transfers, loan payments, and debt covenant compliance.
- Support treasury strategy, banking relationships, and capital allocation decisions.
Systems, Process Improvement & Reporting
- Lead ERP optimization, automation, and process improvements to enhance data quality, accuracy, efficiency, and reporting speed.
- Deliver dashboards, KPIs, and reports that provide data-driven insight for decision-making.
Leadership & Team Development
- Supervise, coach, and develop accounting staff; set goals, provide feedback, and build team capabilities.
- Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Provide technical guidance on complex accounting matters and act as a trusted resource.
Business Partnering & Strategic Support
- Partner with Operations, HR, and Development on planning, strategic initiatives, financing, acquisitions/new developments, and other key projects.
- Present financial performance and recommendations to senior leadership and operations, shaping decisions and long-term change.
As peopleCare continues to grow, additional responsibilities may be assigned to support evolving business needs.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- CPA designation is actively being pursued or has been completed.
- 4+ years of progressive accounting experience, including ideally at least 1 year of supervisory responsibility.
- Strong understanding of GAAP, internal controls, and multi-entity accounting.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Advanced proficiency with Excel, ERP systems, and financial reporting tools.
- Ability to lead teams and manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
