THE ROLE
The Housekeeping and Laundry Supervisor plays a vital role in creating a clean, safe, and welcoming home for residents, families, and team members. This role leads the daily operations of housekeeping and laundry services, ensuring high standards of cleanliness, comfort, and dignity. You will support and inspire your team while promoting a positive, respectful, and collaborative environment. With a strong focus on infection prevention and quality assurance, you help uphold regulatory standards and best practices. This role also partners closely with other departments to support overall resident care and experience. Reports to: Director of Quality and Risk
Salary: 50,000-57,000 Annually

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversee daily housekeeping and laundry operations to ensure a clean, safe, and welcoming environment
  • Develop and maintain cleaning schedules for resident rooms, common areas, and service spaces
  • Supervise laundry processes including collection, washing, and distribution of linens and personal clothing
  • Lead, coach, schedule, and support housekeeping and laundry team members
  • Provide training on infection prevention, safe work practices, and service standards
  • Monitor quality of services and address operational issues in a timely manner
  • Ensure compliance with infection prevention and control (IPAC) standards and public health requirements
  • Conduct regular audits and maintain documentation of cleaning and sanitation practices
  • Manage inventory of supplies, chemicals, and laundry materials
  • Support budget awareness and cost control initiatives within the department
  • Ensure equipment is maintained and coordinate repairs as needed
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to support resident care and home operations
  • Completes all other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum 2–3 years of supervisory experience in housekeeping or laundry services, preferably in healthcare or long-term care
  • Strong knowledge of infection prevention and control practices
  • Demonstrated leadership, communication, and team management skills
  • Ability to manage schedules, workflows, and competing priorities effectively
  • Familiarity with Ontario long-term care legislation and regulatory requirements
  • Diploma or certificate in Environmental Services, Hospitality, or a related field preferred
