Golf, giving and global impact
peopleCare Communities hosted its highly anticipated Putt for a Purpose golf tournament this September at the beautiful Grey Silo Golf Course in Waterloo, Ontario. The event sold out early, and we were thrilled to welcome so many industry-leading construction, financial, and senior living partners, vendors, suppliers, and friends for a day on the links as golfer and valued sponsors.
From tee-off to the final putt, close to 150 golfers, colleagues, partners and friends came together for this fourth annual golf tournament fundraiser. This was our second year playing a 9-hole best ball format, complete with great prizes, raffles, delicious food and cocktails all courtesy of our sponsors.
Overall, the day offered friendly competition, meaningful connections and a way to have a powerful global impact, all in support of MEDA and their work empowering women and youth entrepreneurs around the world. Whether you were an avid golfer, a casual player, or someone who simply believes in giving back, there was something for everyone including great golf, great food, and an even greater cause.
The day concluded with a delicious meal and heartfelt thanks from peopleCare Chairman and CEO Brent Gingerich, MEDA Board member Ryan Good, and Don Stevanus, President and CEO of Vandel Construction, our tournament Diamond Pro Signature Sponsor.
For the second year in a row, proceeds from this single event surpassed $100,000, fulfilling peopleCare’s annual commitment to MEDA. By year’s end, this amount will grow further when combined with home-level fundraising across our communities. Thanks to the support of the Gates Foundation and Global Affairs Canada, our collective efforts also have a potential 20X impact, transforming even more lives through MEDA’s work to alleviate poverty and empower women and youth entrepreneurs in developing countries.
A special thank you once again to our generous sponsors who made this day possible. As you can see, your support creates significant meaningful impact far beyond the golf course.
