Challenging the Status Quo in Seniors Care
This week, peopleCare Communities Chairman and CEO, Brent Gingerich, joined Donna Duncan, CEO of the Ontario Long Term Care Association, on the Coming of Age podcast to discuss the changes we need to create exceptional homes for seniors to live, and meaningful places for our staff to work.
Brent is known for exemplifying values-based leadership throughout his career. As the third-generation owner and operator of peopleCare, Brent “grew up” in long-term care, carrying on a 50-year history of caring and compassion, in a family deeply committed to public service.
“What lights up all of us at peopleCare is changing the world of senior living,” says Brent. “For me, it’s about innovation, continuous improvement, exceeding expectations and having a positive impact on people’s lives. That’s what inspires me.”
Throughout the podcast, Brent shares his optimism about what’s ahead for seniors and senior living.
“With the spotlight on seniors issues and ageism, these are exciting times. We have an amazing opportunity to reshape things for the better, develop a pipeline of leadership and fantastic talent into our sector, which is a great place to work, and create these beautiful, caring communities for our seniors so they can live the best years of their lives.”
Season 2 of Coming of Age launched on September 13, 2022. The podcast champions the re-imagining of seniors’ care in response to the systemic issues highlighted by the pandemic and the age wave that is coming, with the first of the baby boomers turning 80 in five years. Available on Spotify, Apple Podcasts and online, Coming of Age shares global and local knowledge, shines a spotlight on experiences, and ignites discussion about seniors’ care and the innovative changes needed.
